Dermal/Lip Filler FAQ
What are Fillers?
Dermal & Lip fillers are FDA approved injections made with hyaluronic acid. These injections can be added to both the soft tissue of your skin (dermal fillers) or to the lips in order to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, creases, raised cards, or to add counter to the cheeks, chin and lips.

What's the difference between them all?
Each dermal filler subtype is specifically designed for different facial areas and contour desired. For instance, the Juvederm Voluma product line is a firmer gel designed for augmentation of the chin, jawline and cheeks. Juvederm XC line is designed for lips if more definition is desired. Juvederm Volbella is also for lips but softer if a more natural look is desired. The Restylane product line also has similar features. For instance, Restylane Lyft is also very firm and FDA approved for cheek augmentation. Softer Restylane Defyne is FDA approved for chin augmentation. The remainder product lines may be used for more superficial dermal filling such as nasolabial folds and lips. For more details, please book your free consultation.
How long do Fillers last?
Although every patient is different, most patients find that their injections last around 6-24 months depending on the product used and the area of injection.
However, for best results we suggest that you schedule your follow up treatments before the recommended treatment time. Your provider will discuss which options are best for you.
What should I expect after injections?
Typically there is NO downtime for Filler injections. After receiving your injections, you may experience swelling, redness and tenderness at the injection sites. In addition, some clients may notice bruising at the injection site although this is less common. Clients tend to experience different side affects depending on the location of injection. For example, lip fillers tend to have swelling or redness for up to 2 weeks whereas chin injections can have these side effects for a few hours to 1 day. It is recommended that you follow specific post-injection instructions such as: avoiding heavy exercise, salty food, alcohol or smoking after injections Or avoiding skin tanning or laser treatments. Your doctor will be sure to review any additional instructions before and after injections

What should I expect during my appointment?
For new patients, a complementary consultation is required prior to injecting. After we have reviewed your medical history, signed consents and discussed treatment options with the provider, the injections will take anywhere from 15-30 minutes depending on your treatment plan. The provider can apply numbing solution before injections and may use ice to further numb areas as needed. Most clients report feeling a very small pinch at the injection site but you should not feel any severe pain.

What is the difference between Fillers and Botox?
Botox and Dermal fillers can both be used to reduce wrinkles. However, the mechanism of action between the two solutions are completely different. Botox essentially freezes the muscles that cause wrinkles/lines whereas dermal fillers contain ingredients to help add fullness under the epidermis of the skin.
Many clients receive both treatments at the same time in different locations of the face to achieve natural rejuvenation to the skin.
