PDO Threads FAQ
Q: What is PDO Threading?
The thread lift is an in-office procedure using a surgical-grade self-dissolvable material composed of Polydioxanone (PDO) introduced by a blunt-tipped cannula - deploying it under the skin layer. By creating tension the surrounding tissue tightens and lifts instantly. This technique can also be used to treat facial acne scars. Downtime is minimal. Though this material self-dissolves it promotes collagen production during the process, inducing long-term rejuvenation.

What is the difference between Lift PDO threads and smooth PDO threads?
Lift PDO treads are thicker and bigger with molded texture to engage the tissue and causing a lift. Smooth PDO threads, on the other hand, are smooth and smaller and are used to treat skin texture problems, such as acne scars. The results are immediate and long-term. They both stimulate collagen production.

How does it work?
By creating a tiny insertion point at a strategic location the threads are inserted and deployed. New, natural skin tension and collagen production are the net result.
When is it appropriate to use PDO threads?
PDO threading is indicated for moderate sagging, loose, or excess skin. As mentioned, smooth PDO threads is a subtype used to treat acne scars. This procedure is suitable if non-invasive, nonsurgical procedure with minimal downtime is desired. Pricing is also more affordable than surgical intervention.

How long does it last?
Thread facelift results often vary from patient to patient, but typically last from 12-18 months. It is possible to have the treatment again once the previous threads are fully dissolved.

What's the downtime?
Mild to moderate bruising and swelling is expected and can last up to 10 days after your treatment. We provide Arnica Gel and Tablets for improved recovery.

What happens to the threads?
The threads are no different than dissolvable stitches put in for medical reasons. They dissolve over time. This process may take around 10 -12 months. However, collagen production is stimulated along this natural process.
